PHD SCHOLARSHIP IN THE TEST & MEASUREMENTS RESEARCH PROGRAMME DENMARK 2011
PhD Scholarship in Two-dimensional Rotor Plane Wind Data Retrieval – HTF Wind Lidar, Denmark
Study Subject(s):Two-dimensional Rotor Plane Wind Data Retrieval – HTF Wind Lidar
Course Level:PhD
Scholarship Provider: DTU
Scholarship can be taken at: Denmark
Eligibility:
Candidates should have a master’s degree in engineering, physics or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to the master’s degree. Experience with wind energy, as well as good communication skills are considered advantageous for obtaining the position.
Scholarship Open for International Students: No
Scholarship Description: Lidars (laser based anemometers) provide many possibilities for controlling a wind turbine for the benefit of power production and mechanical load reduction. A PhD position related to 2D rotor plane wind data retrieval from a spinner-integrated scanning wind lidar is offered. Development of algorithms for mean wind field and turbulence retrieval in several spatial dimensions from scanning wind lidar scanning will be a part of this project. Investigations of the feedback for wind turbine steering and control of wind turbines pitch and yaw will also be done.
How to Apply: Online
Scholarship Application Deadline: 14 August 2011
