International Fulbright Science and Technology Award

The International Fulbright Science and Technology Award (Fulbright S&T), sponsered y the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) of the U.S. Department of State, enables exceptional foreign students to persue Ph.D. level study at leading U.S. university programs and laboratories. Fulbright S&T demonstrates the United States’ commitment to welcoming emerging scientific leaders to persue study and research at its institutions.

Eligibility

Fulbright S&T candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree, cannot be currently studying or living in the United States, and are required to apply from their country of citizenship. Like all Fulbright Program candidates, they must exhibit leadership ability and be willing to represent their culture in their host communities. Fulbright S&T Fellows must demonstrate special aptitude and innivation in scientific fields and return to their home countries after completion of their Ph.D. to make a contribution to society using the scientific knowledge that they have gained in the U.S.

Application and Selection Process

Interested students should contact the Fulbright Commission or U.S. Embassy in their country od citizenship to inquire about country-specific deadlines. Applications are accepted each year beginning in early February. Fulbright S&T Fellows are selected based on a rigorous multi-tiered, merit-based process with final selection by the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board. Finalists are identified in the fall and begin their U.S. programs the next academic year.
