SCHOLARSHIP MSC AND PHD IN FSU JENA GERMANY 2011
The Abbe School of Photonics provides education programs with multidisciplinary coverage of the field of Optics & Photonics, from upstream scientific aspects to engineering and applications in major sectors of economy. Students enrolled in the school are trained for technical or scientific positions in industry and academia.
The master and Ph.D. programs are based on the profound experience in optics education at the University Jena, which has identified optics as one of its primary fields in education and research. Education at the Abbe School of Photonics is embedded in a modern research environment of the university, the Fraunhofer Institute of Applied Optics, the Institute of Photonics Technologies as well as a number of prominent industrial partners.
Being the German city of science in 2008, Jena was elected for funding in the Erasmus Mundus scheme of the EU. Hence, our Photonics Master track is jointly provided by leading centers for optics education in Europe: Imperial College London, Institut d'Optiqué Paris, Technical University Delft, and Warsaw University of Technology.
The program is part of a full scale education program at the Faculty of Physics and Astronomy at the Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena specialized in Optics & Photonics, starting for the Bachelor level, continuing in the master program, and culminating in a structured PhD program. Attractive scholarships are available for different stages of student education.
